Uses : ethyl formate used as a solvent of cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate, as well as fungicide, larvicide and fumigant of food, cigarettes, cereals, dried fruits, etc. Ethyl formate can be used as fragrance for peach, banana, apple, apricot, pineapple, berry, butter, brandy, sweet wine, whisky, etc. Ethyl formate is also an intermediate in organic synthesis. For example, in the pharmaceutical industry, Chemicalbook is used for the production of anti-tumor drug fuxidin and vitamin B1. Ethyl formate and acetone were condensed in sodium methoxyl-xylene solution to get sodium acetyl vinyl alcohol, and then condensed with acetyl glycine ester and cyclized with potassium thiocyanate to get 2-mercaptoimidazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester. Ethyl formate is used in the production of houttuynitin, tongjingning, kangfulong, pyrimidine, thiidine benzene mustard, sanguesheng, total synthesis of anisodamine and other drugs.
